Run Home Camps Celebrates Pirates Victory and Generous $5,000 Gift from GBU

September 17, 2024

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, 20 children from the Run Home Camps program enjoyed an unforgettable day at PNC Park as they attended a Pittsburgh Pirates game, watching the home team secure a 7-3 victory over the Washington Nationals. This special outing was part of Run Home Camps' ongoing mission to bring hope, healing, and honor to abused and neglected boys through the game of baseball. Run Home Camps provides week-long baseball camps designed to give boys aged 9-12 an experience filled with encouragement and fun as well as personal and spiritual growth.  The organization, originally founded in Windber, Pennsylvania, has expanded to include locations nationally in Arizona, Oklahoma, and Texas in and internationally in Peru, where camps will be offered in 2025.

Adding to the memorable day at the ballpark, GBU Life generously donated $5,000 to support Run Home Camps. John Fauzey and Ashley Casterline of GBU Life presented the donation check to Nick and Patti Miller, founders of Run Home Camps. This contribution will further the organization’s efforts to expand its reach and serve more children in need.

Joseph Carpenter of Carpenter Financial Services, a GBU Life agent who has been actively involved as both a sponsor and a volunteer coach for Run Home Camps, said, "Taking the boys to the Pirates game was such a rewarding experience. We’re deeply thankful to GBU for their generous donation. It’s support like this that allows the organization to keep giving these children opportunities they might not otherwise have, and we look forward to seeing the impact it will continue to have."

Run Home Camps provides a unique environment where boys can connect through baseball, build self-esteem, and form lasting relationships. Through the involvement of volunteers and generous donors such as GBU Life, the organization continues to change the lives of young boys and inspire them toward brighter futures.
